🍳 Instructions:
- Sauté the Onions:
Heat lard or oil in a heavy pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until soft and golden, about 8–10 minutes. - Add Paprika:
Remove from heat, stir in paprika (to prevent it from burning), then return to heat. - Brown the Meat:
Add pork cubes and garlic. Sear meat on all sides until browned. - Add Tomato & Pepper:
Stir in chopped tomato and green pepper (if using). Season with salt and pepper. - Simmer:
Add about 1 cup of water or broth. Cover and simmer over low heat for 1.5–2 hours, stirring occasionally and adding more water if necessary. The meat should be fork-tender and coated in a rich, thick sauce. - Taste & Serve:
Adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with nokedli (spaetzle), boiled potatoes, or bread.
Optional toppings: A dollop of sour cream and fresh parsley make it even better!
Note: For an even richer flavor, use homemade broth or add a splash of red wine.
