These Hungarian fruit squares—known as gyümölcsös lepény—are soft, buttery cake bars topped with seasonal fruit like sour cherries, apricots, plums, or berries. They’re easy to make, perfect with coffee or tea, and very popular in Hungarian kitchens.

- 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
